Biggest Loser stars host 5/15k: 'We're more inspired by these guys'
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- The streets of Springfield were filled with runners Sunday morning as hundreds participated in the inaugural Biggest Loser RunWalk.
The cell phone cameras were out in full force at the rainy run/walk as people snapped pictures with some Biggest Loser contestants who inspired them through the TV screen.
The mother/son duo of Jackie and Dan Evans were there to meet many of the runners at Willamalane Parks and Recreation Center in Springfied.
"My mom saw the commercial and it said 'tryouts coming to Chicago', near where we lived, and she said, 'Dan you should go for it'," former Biggest Loser contestant Dan Evans told KVAL News.
That advice landed them both a spot on the show's fifth season.
"We lost a combined total of 225 pounds. He lost 136, I lost 90 pounds while on the show," Jackie said.
The healthier Dan and Jackie cheered on the runners participating in the 5k/15k and one mile fun run for the kids.
"Oftentimes we're more inspired by these guys, because they did it on their own," Dan said. "We had the cameras the house where everything's all set for you to lose weight."
They say they've teamed up to take the Biggest Loser run all across the country.
"Through their running they really wanted to ... use the Biggest Loser brand to inspire everyone else to get off the couch," said Run/Walk organizer Christina Morlock.
As Dan and Jackie found out, the best inspiration often comes from the people sitting right next to you.
"You can find something and just get with people who are trying to accomplish what you are ... get the whole family going, that's what we encourage everybody and get everybody out there motivated," Dan said.
