Australian citizen accused of having sex with Oregon teen

SWEET HOME, Ore. - An Australian citizen working in Canada faces accusations he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old Oregon girl he met online.

Police arrested 31-year-old Rowan Thomson-Sapstead last Friday on charges of Luring a Minor, Online Corruption of a Minor 1st Degree and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.

Officers found him at a hotel with the teen.

She told investigators she met Thomson-Sapstead on a social networking site and began an online relationship with him.

Thomson-Sapstead traveled from Canada, where he has been living on a work visa, and checked into a Sweet Home area hotel, police said.

The teen told police she engaged in a sexual relationship with Thomson-Sapstead and traveled with him to another state during the last two weeks.

Police said Thomson-Sapstead admitted to the sexual relationship and told investigators he took the girl to Nevada over the New Year's holiday.
