ROSEBURG, Ore. -- When a major earthquake hits Oregon, will you be prepared?

Every year, on October 19 at 10:19 a.m., the Great Oregon Shakeout preparedness drill prompts people all over the state, from Coos Bay to Eugene to Roseburg, to practice their "drop, cover and hold on!" skills.

"Practice makes perfect,” City of Roseburg Fire Marshal Monte Bryan says. “Once we realize that this isn't just something that might happen, this actually will happen at some point in time, possibly in our lifetimes, possibly in our children's lifetimes."

Officials suggest you prepare two weeks-worth of food for each family member in case of a disaster.
