5 arrested after 18 firearms stolen from Yoncalla recovered near Eugene
EUGENE, Ore. - Investigators tracked down 18 stolen firearms and a stolen pickup truck Monday night after a week-long investigation that started in Douglas County.
Four Eugene residents and a Yoncalla man now face charges in connection with the case.
The investigation started July 24 with a report out of Winchester, Oregon, of a stolen 2004 Ford F250 pickup.
Two days later, deputies investigated a burglary in Yoncalla where 18 firearms were stolen.
Deputies determined the two cases were connected.
The stolen pickup was located July 31 at the Motel 6 near Interstate 5 in Eugene, the sheriff's office said.
Law enforcement stopped a bus seen earlier with the stolen pickup on I-5.
Inside the bus, law enforcement located all 18 stolen firearms.
Officers arrested 5 people as a result of the investigation.
