3 seriously injured in SUV crash near Diamond Lake
DIAMOND LAKE, Ore. - A tire malfunction may have caused a crash that seriously injured three California residents Sunday afternoon, Oregon State Police said.
The driver told police her 2003 Honda SUV jerked to the right, causing her to lose control on Highway 138E northwest of Diamond Lake in the Umpqua National Forest.
A witness reported seeing the Honda overturn several times before coming to a halt off the highway.
Rescuers pulled Lynne Wright, 59, and Alison Wright, 38, of Chula Vista, California, from the wreckage. Ten-year-old Emma Wright was thrown from the SUV in the crash.
All three were taken by air ambulances to Rogue Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
