State troopers responded to the scene, in the southbound lanes of I-5 near Ravenna Boulevard, at about 9:15 a.m. after receiving a report of a rolled-over vehicle blocking two lanes of the freeway.
Arriving at the scene, they found an SUV on its side with two people trapped inside.
A man and woman in their 40s were cut from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
A preliminary investigation found that a disabled vehicle had been parked on the shoulder with its blinkers on before the crash. The rear end of the disabled vehicle was sticking out slightly into traffic.
The driver of the SUV apparently didn't see the disabled vehicle in time, and over-corrected in an attempt to avoid it, rolling the vehicle onto its side.
Three lanes of the freeway were blocked for about an hour as troopers and medics worked to rescue the occupants of the SUV and clear the scene.
