2 children killed, 2 people hurt in Coquille RV fire
COQUILLE, Ore. - Neighbors rescued a 7-year-old boy from a burning RV early Wednesday morning.
Firefighters found two other children dead inside the trailer.
Their 59-year-old grandmother managed to escape.
Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier said two brothers - Christopher Thorp, 13, and Grayson Thorp, 8, both of Roseburg - died from apparent smoke inhalation.
The third boy - Caden Teddleton of Coquille - was taken to a burn unit at a Portland hospital, Frasier said. The boy was listed in critical condition with burns and smoke inhalation at last check, he said.
The boys were staying the night with their grandmother, Virginia Jennings. She was treated and released from Coquille Valley Hospital.
Frasier said the cause of the fire is under investigation by arson specialists from the Oregon State Police and Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at Rivers Edge RV Park around 1:16 a.m.
Crews found a travel trailer engulfed in flames.
Neighbors in the park managed to rescue Teddleton child from the RV before the fire got too hot, Frasier said.
