JCSO identifies man killed in rollover crash
GOLD HILL, Ore —
[UPDATE] Friday, 3:20 P.M. : The driver was identified as James Leo Chaplin, 73, of Sams Valley. Chaplin was apparently not wearing a seat belt; he was ejected from the vehicle. There was no sign of alcohol or drug use.
One person confirmed dead in a rollover crash on the 7500 block of Ramsey Rd near highway 234 in Gold Hill.
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene where a boom truck belonging to J.I.M. and Associates, Inc. had left the roadway on the passenger side, crossed the roadway, rolled over and landed on its tires.
Deputies say, the driver was ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead on scene.
Next of kin have not been notified at this time.
The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team and the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
