Eugene Fashion Week opens with lingerie and swimwear show
EUGENE, Ore. - Eugene Fashion Week is in full swing with the opening Lingerie and Swimwear show Wednesday at the Oak Street Speakeasy.
Wednesday night's show featured 13 designers presenting 10 labels.
Although Eugene Fashion Week is in its third year, this is only the second the event has featured a separate lingerie and swimsuit line.
"I see even expanding in the future," said co-producer Mac Goodwin. "We'll probably find more niches to even have. It amazes me every year."
The producers of Fashion Week - Goodwin, Laura Lee Laroux and Mitra Chester - said they all strive to incorporate as many local talents as possible.
"The artist communities, even with music, we represent in fashion week," Goodwin said. "We have bands playing different things, and after parties."
The models of Fashion Week are all volunteers. Mitra Chester said she's looking for "real people."
"We've always really made it a point for it be accessible to anyone who is interested in participating, be it either as a designer or as a model," Chester said. "All of our models are volunteers from the community, and if they keep an eye out on our webpage, EugeneFashionWeek.com, we post model calls."
"Ready to Wear" is the theme of the next show set for Friday, May 2, at The Shedd Institute for the Arts. Saturday's show will feature "Avante Garde and Evening Wear." You can get discounted tickets online at TheShedd.org.
